Who are we and what do we do?
We’re the fifth-largest financial services group on the planet (we’ve offices in 27 different countries), and the largest insurer in the UK. We provide our customers (all 45 million of them) with pensions, long-term savings, insurance policies and fund management services that deliver prosperity and peace of mind.
But what we’d like to stress is that we’re also the people who can offer you a career that makes the most of your gifts – the things you’re naturally good at. When you apply to join us, we’ll assess your strengths to see if you’re right for the job. Then, when you arrive, we’ll set about developing you so you can progress.
What are we like? Some businesses in our position might say something like ‘immensely successful’ – especially when you consider that, last year, we held £364 billion under management, and topped £49.2 billion in income and investment sales.
However, it’s the way we work that really marks us out from the rest. We’re not your typical, stuffy financial services company types. Our work is important (businesses and families rely on our products, especially when the worst happens) and is done brilliantly. But we take great pride in the fact we’re all down-to-earth, friendly people who enjoy what we do.
Why should you join us?
From a career prospective, our Norwich office at the Horizon Business Centre is a fantastic place to learn and develop. It’s one of our seven UK Centres of Excellence – state-of-the-art sites with the talent and tools to sell, handle, manage, change and answer questions about all our products – and deliver customer service that’s far outside the ordinary.
Of course, you’ll also be well rewarded for your hard work. We offer discounts on many of our products – from travel insurance to motor breakdown cover – and benefits you can change to fit with your lifestyle, for example when you buy a property, have a child or look towards retirement.
And with a restaurant and Starbucks (not to mention the convenience of free buses to and from the city centre), you’ll find we’ve taken care of most of the practical worries. So you can concentrate on getting to grips with your job, making friends, and progressing within our global business.
