A Senior Technical Officer is required by a Norfolk Local Authority to assist with the development and implementation of sustainable transportation and highways maintenance schemes and programmes. To project manage the delivery of such schemes and programmes, including the supervision of other members of staff. The successful candidate will carry out site surveys. Measure quantities on site and check valuations. Set out information or check that supplied by others. Gather information relative to the assigned project. Obtain quotations and tenders. Prepare draft reports.
Design, detail and check schemes and / or elements for works to approved standards. Prepare contract documents and specifications. Supervise work, attend site meetings and enforce contract conditions and specifications. Monitor expenditure on medium size works, including the preparation of interim certificates and final accounts.
The successful candidate will have experience of managing civil engineering/highway projects and supervision of contractors and an in depth knowledge of highway maintenance, traffic engineering design and construction. Understanding of appropriate Health and Safety legislation. Knowledge of relevant legislation. Computer skills, including Office and Autocad applications. You will have BTEC/HNC in a related subject (or experience in lieu).
There is a starting salary in the range £18,907 - £27,594 together with normal local authority benefits.
