THE ROLE - To pro-actively review and settle claims in accordance with Corporate strategy and philosophy.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Handling Marine claims with scope to expand knowledge into other areas

2. Consider inwards claims against policy wordings and apply exclusions and limits, where appropriate

3. Apply claims strategy and philosophy including setting reserves

4. Recommend payments where appropriate in accordance with pre-determined authority level

5. Collation of data and production of reports.

6. Provide insight to Underwriting staff in respect of claims issues, preparing claims history and experience at renewal and whilst on risk

7. Processing claims via CLASS where

8. Travel with underwriter to meet clients if required


KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED


1. Solid claims handling experience, ideally with knowledge of Marine business.
2. Demonstrates excellent communication skills, exercising appropriate discretion in dealing with people from all levels of the Company

3. Excellent attention to detail and a meticulous eye for identifying inconsistencies or inaccuracies

4. Effective prioritisation and time management skills, able to complete tasks to tight deadlines with a ‘can do' attitude

5. Comfortable taking ownership for own work, identifying the need for action whilst working effectively within a team and adjusting comfortably to changing conditions / priorities

6. Ability to build effective working relationships (internally/externally), establishing credibility amongst a wide and client group
