    Our client is currently recruiting a Production Planning and Logistics Manager to ensure materials are planned, purchased, received, stocked and issued to Production in accordance with the Budget plan to enable Production operations to start on time. Thereby ensuring shipments are shipped and invoiced on their promised due dates. Upholding the company 'Code of Conduct' and operating within the group's policies and procedures.

    MAIN DUTIES:
    *Control the MPS in line with C Plan, actual orders, forecasts and historical usage. Liaise with Product Managers as required. To maintain a close working relationship with the commercial controller and maintain a regular exchange of information on current and forecast instrument requirements
    *Control and maintain MRP through SAP.
    *Manage all agreed aspects of the Manufacturing database (SAP), (to include control of part numbers, structures, routing files and modifications).
    *Manage the purchase of goods through the supplier base, to ensure on time delivery of parts and maximise performance and profitability of the business through efficient stock control.
    Manage the warehouse logistics process to ensure accurate stock records and timely issue of materials to meet production start dates.
    *Monitor the quality, cost and efficiency of the movement and storage of goods.
    *Responsibility for the schedule and control of order release to meet agreed customer delivery dates
    *Plan, lead and co-ordinate the department to meet defined objectives and timescales
    *Develop and maintain appropriate performance and quality measures (KPI) as agreed with the Operations Manager.
    *Provide the necessary training, direction and motivation for staff to reach their optimum commitment and competence. Engender a good team spirit throughout the department and ensure all staff are flexible in the tasks they are assigned.
    *To ensure the company complies with all relevant current Health and Safety Legislation
    *Ensure that department and company policies are communicated to and understood by staff.
    *Compliance with Company procedures and controls (ISO 9001 and ISO 14001) as defined.
    *Participate in steering / project group workshops on new initiatives as and when required.
    *Perform other duties that may be required from time to time, to achieve the business objectives of Carl Zeiss SMT Ltd

    SKILLS:
    Proven track record of using MRP production systems
    Forecasting and planning for current and future production requirements
    Management of teams
    Proven track record of working in a manufacturing production environment
    Communication with internal/external customers and suppliers often internationally
    Current understanding of Health and safety legislation
    Clear understanding of Quality and environmental systems
    Reporting methods - Written and verbally
