NHS Nurse needed to move into Clinical Trials

    Summary
Are you getting disillusioned with the NHS? Take a new career direction – something that is less stressful, with better hours, great rates of pay, career development opportunities and set in a beautiful stately home location just outside of Cambridge. Your future in Nursing awaits!

    The Company
A highly respected, specialist Contract Research Organisation, dedicated to exploratory and early phase (I and IIa) clinical development. Over the last 15 years, they have successfully performed over 350 pioneering clinical trials, including ground-breaking investigation into Fertility. This company has an excellent reputation within the CRO industry for its staff development, working environment and buzzing atmosphere.

    The Role
Using your Nursing background to the full, you will provide a broad nursing service to clinical trial volunteers with a variety of backgrounds – some are healthy, some are patients with specific conditions. Some will stay for a few days, while others may come for a matter of hours. Some of the investigational drugs are injectables, whereas others may be tablet-based or otherwise. You will need to screen volunteers at various stages throughout the trial and also be responsible for administrating the test drugs.

You will ensure that all trials are carried out in full compliance to ICH GCP (Good Clinical Practice) regulations, and will be responsible for recording and reporting trial results as well as maintaining the well-being and comfort of the volunteers. It is a different environment to an NHS hospital, but you still need to have just as many skills and just as good a bedside manner.

    Benefits

    • Excellent contributory pension scheme
    • 4 x salary life assurance cover
    • Travel insurance in UK and abroad
    • Private healthcare insurance
    • Subsidised dining
    • Sick pay
    • Performance-driven pay reviews
    • Structured training and career development
    • Bonus scheme
    • 24 days' holiday and public holidays

    Experience

The successful candidate will be a qualified Nurse with a broad range of skills that will be useful in a clinical research setting, including the ability to motivate and inspire others. You must have a caring disposition, flexibility and attention to detail. Experience in clinical research would be advantageous but not essential.

You will need to be reliable and flexible, being able to work early shifts and weekends subject to study requirements. General proficiency in Word and Excel is essential, together with Basic Life Support and the ability to perform venepuncture and ECGs.

Due to the company's location, it is essential that you have your own transport.
